NTU runs an interesting 3G video-on-demand service introduced by Assistant Professor Bradley C. Freeman. The service is accessible by making a video call to 6403 9849. It showcases the campus news-style video magazine program called “Nanyang Spectrum” and also the arts and fashion focused “Kaleidoscope”. Kaleidoscope has two main programmes, Fashionscope which covers every aspects of fashion from makeup and hairstyling to the latest street fashion and Artscope which lines up news and interviews on unique, underground music and non-mainstream movies. Nanyang Spectrum and Kaleidoscope are weekly productions produced and presented by students from the Wee Kim Wee School of Communication & Information.
Adding a touch of innovation, the 3G service also let callers have a live view of what’s happening in the booth of Radio Fusion, the campus radio station. It is the first local station to adopt such technology in Singapore.

Hot on the heels of ‘First Class on Mobile’ Mediacorp TV launched another 3G video-on-demand service. This time it is for the blockbuster ‘The Little Nyonya’. The Little Nyonya set a new record as the launch episode attracted 1,098,000 viewers. The star-studded drama is led by Jeanette Aw, Felicia Chin, Qi Yuwu, Joanne Peh, Pierre Png, Dai Yang Tian, Eelyn Kok, and Apple Hong.
Fans, get your 3G phone ready and video call 6828 9966. You will get to view spin-offs, behind-the-scenes, special interviews, and making-offs on ‘The Little Nyonya on Mobile’.
If you miss the quirky Channel 5 comedy First Class, you may want to check out the mobisodes which are still available on mobile. Make a 3G video call to the number 6828 9966 and you will be able to select and view not just the off-shoots but also special interviews and behind-the-scenes videos.
The mobisode on Noel Lee (played by Mark Zee) who can ‘pose anywhere, anytime’ and believes he is the hottest man alive is especially funny.. and never failed to rouse some goosebumps! Other colourful characters like drama queen Ashley Loong (Sebastian Tan), Ms Tew Li Li (a transformed Jade Seah), etc. also have their special moments.

The live segment let viewers make 3G video calls to the show and participate in a contest LIVE on TV. Check out the how-to video clip on their website: http://www.oktolive.sg/.

Above: In the last episode it was boy vs girl and girl won! Guess boys don’t usually know where broom and ketchup are kept.>

We went to Central for dinner but arrived just in time for a spectacular performance at the riverside. It was not exactly crowded for a Saturday night given the magnitude of the event. I had certainly seen worst. We probably missed a good part of the boat parade but were there to see the bright and colourful boats ferried in the dancers in rich exotic costumes. I captured some of the moments on my AVC video blog (User ID 100015).

The dancers hurried final touches on their make up and started parading up to the open air stage just in front of Central. An hour-long music, dance drama, even puppetry followed suit. It was a very good production. A visual feast in a fitting surrounding. I am not exactly a historian but I supposed the dance drama portrayed the legend of Sang Nila Utama and his journey to Singapore.

With the construction works cleared, good spaces for visitors, and a well organized event in a pleasant evening like this.. Clarke Quay has progressed.

Here comes johnny and he’ll tell you the story…
User 101501 has a new profile video showing him(?) on stage playing a 30 seconds guitar solo… Encore, may we have more, please!
In her sweet Mandarin, User 101133 complained about tiredness in her last two video blogs. We hope she would take it easy…
User 101051 shared what she was planning to cook in her latest video blog. Happy buka puasa….
And if you can’t decide what’s for desert you can always count on Delcie (User 101168). Ever tried ‘kanten’ the Japanese jelly made of seaweed? Check out her video blogs.
Khai (User 101193) said Asia Video Club was spooky. His profile video is… well, spooky.

For my birthday, about four years ago, a friend, a girl, called me up and asked me out to present a gift. I was then somewhere in Java, having lived there for a couple of months already. In the phonecall, she told me to bring spare pair of pants, t-shirt and wear sandals instead of shoes. Now this girl-friend of mine, she is a tourist guide. No, not the type that brings you to zoos, museums and shopping malls, but rather, the type that make you lug your backpack and walk 5 kilometers into a jungle to reach your cabin for the night…
So I thought, finally, I am going to be at the beach, or the very least, a river! I mean, coming from an island like Singapore, I do get restless when I settle in a place where I don’t see a lot of water for a couple of weeks!
She came to pick me up with her bike. And off we go…
We reached the base of a hill and she pointed a dark green spot amongst the trees up above. She said, “That is where we are going.”
To cut the story short… I later found myself at the mouth of a cave filled with water that would reach up to my nostrils…
I came out on the other end after one full hour traversing this dark, wet and dangerous birthday gift of mine, but it was and adventure and gift that I have and never will forget…
I am praying that Asia Video Club is such a cave… Spooky at as I enter yet unforgettable as I leave…
Now… let’s be friends!
