Delcie is proud to introduce Delcie’s Kanten Jelly, a nutritious and affordable dessert from Japan that is high in fiber.

Delcie’s Kanten Jelly is imported from Japan and is made using the finest seaweed available. Because Delcie’s Kanten Jelly is made from premium seaweed, it consists of up to 80% fiber and is chock full of natural minerals.

The generous fresh fruit slices added to Delcie’s Kanten Jelly increases the fiber content while adding essential vitamins to this already healthy, low-calorie dessert.

Because Delcie’s Kanten Jelly absorbs water, it is extremely satiating and keeps you feeling full for longer while reducing bloating and water retention.

Delcie’s Kanten Jelly – A nutritious dessert miracle in a cup. Available in 6 flavours!

Market of Artists and Designers, or MAAD for short, happens every first Saturday of the month at the Red Dot Design Museum, one of Singapore’s creative hubs. In this event, participating designers only sell original handmade work in a flea market themed environment. Be there and support our local creative community by buying a beautiful painting or a cute, handmade plush toy!

MAAD also features the people from the Organisation of Illustrators Council. The organization will have their Portrait Day during the MAAD event. A big group of illustrators will have you pose for 15 minutes while they paint or sketch you in their own style. You will then pick and choose the ones you enjoy the most for SGD$8 each. Now that’s a pretty cool concept!

Third installment of the Performativity series
A Performance art video exhibition

Derived from combining Performance Art and TV, Performativity was first jointly curated by Thanavi Chotpradit (Thailand) and Khairuddin Hori showcasing performance-centered video pieces by emerging artists from Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore and The Philippines. It was launched at VER Gallery (Bangkok) belonging to internationally acclaimed artist and Hugo Boss Prize recipient Rirkrit Tiravanija in 2006. Last month, Performativity 2, consisting of video pieces by seven Singaporean artists had a one-month screening at 24HR Art, The Northern Territories’ Center for Contemporary Art in Darwin, Australia.

It’s upcoming third installation subtitled Two Coats of Paint will be exhibited at Praxis Space, an experimental gallery dedicated for students and alumnus of LASALLE College of the Arts from 5th to 13th November 2008.

Two Coats of Paint suggests a destruction (of sorts) through an action not dissimilar to laying fresh paint over a masterpiece. In this instance, the four artists will respond, adapt, appropriate, borrow and even steal from classic pieces of performance-centered video art by European and American avant-gardes from the 1960s to the 1980s such as John Baldessari, Marina Abramovich, Bruce Nauman and Yoko Ono.

This collaborative endeavor also extends the tutelage between former tutor and LASALLE alumnus (Khairuddin Hori) and his students (Veliana Veli and Maria Chua).

Artists: Khai Hori (Singapore)
Veliana Veli (Indonesia)
Thao Nguyen (Vietnam)
Maria Chua (Malaysia)

Where: Praxis Space
LASALLE College of the Arts
1 McNally Street
Singapore 187940

Dates: 5 – 13 Nov 2008

If you miss the quirky Channel 5 comedy First Class, you may want to check out the mobisodes which are still available on mobile. Make a 3G video call to the number 6828 9966 and you will be able to select and view not just the off-shoots but also special interviews and behind-the-scenes videos.

The mobisode on Noel Lee (played by Mark Zee) who can ‘pose anywhere, anytime’ and believes he is the hottest man alive is especially funny.. and never failed to rouse some goosebumps! Other colourful characters like drama queen Ashley Loong (Sebastian Tan), Ms Tew Li Li (a transformed Jade Seah), etc. also have their special moments.

The Singapore Biennale 2008 is ending this weekend after a 3-month long run since opening on 11 September 2008. This is the 2nd full-scaled contemporary art exhibition organized by the National Arts Council since the first event in 2006. Held over various locations around the city, the exhibition features work from artists around the world exploring on a main theme; Wonder.

The art transcends beyond just pretty portraits within a wooden frame: you can expect mediums used such as video installations, photographs, and sculptures.

Works to look out for:

Artist Wit Pikanchanapong’s work, Singapore (2008), is really a Google-Earth image of Singapore, blown up and pasted across the historical Chambers of City Hall. This is one of the more interactive pieces of the Singapore Biennale. Audiences are given little square stickers to mark places that have significance to them: school, workplace, or where they had their first kiss etc. This exhibit reminds us that we play a part in Nation building.

Maggots (2004), by Vietnamese artist Pham Ngoc Duong, are big, cartoon-like sculptures of a normally grotesque creature which is only present when there are signs of rot and decay. The installation has the maggots crawling their way in exhibition venue City Hall.

Ticket Price: SGD 10 for adults for ticketed venues. 50% discount for students
Duration: 11 September till 16 November 2008.
